Hinds Victorian Guest House

My stay at the Hinds House was a joy. The wooden structure, solid furnishings, soft rugs, and historical notes combined to create an atmosphere of being in another time, while still providing the conveniences of modern life: running water, electricity, internet access, modern plumbing. Located on Chestnut street at Church, the house is near City Hall and just a short walk from the Pacific Garden Mall downtown area. Its many shops, restaurants, art installations, and street musicians enriched my frequent strolls there. The Hinds House offers a kitchen for guest use, complete with cookware, and dishes. Each room has dedicated cabinet and refrigerator space. Shopping for ingredients was convenient, with New Leaf Market and Trader Joe's very close by. On Wednesday afternoon, the Santa Cruz Farmer's Market provided me with extra treats I had not found elsewhere. Duck eggs with green garlic and chanterelle mushrooms? Yes, thank you! All in all, a very good stay. I will visit again.

We love staying at the Hinds House. It has a well appointed kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, great common areas and clean and tidy throughout! This house has a great feel and is so beautiful inside and out. Perfect location as it is walking distance to downtown. Beach, restaurants and shops are so close. Parking was easy and check in/check out simple. Its a great fit for folks who enjoy meeting and chatting with others or if you enjoy having a shared kitchen to prepare and eat meals. We definitely recommend staying if you like historic homes and the architecture and detail of the 1880's as this house has a wonderful atmospheric energy of the era!

This place is gorgeous! There is stained glass and charming decor at every turn. It’s spotless and well organized, with very kitchen gadget you could need. During the day, it’s peaceful and there is food WiFi and many desks to work at. During the night, it’s quiet for a good nights sleep.

Um, this place is purple now for some reason, and has been in a state of disrepair(other than becoming purple) for as long as I can remember. Originally I rated it one star, but have since decided that it is fairly eerie, I like it now. Alas, it isn't worth 5 stars on eerieness alone, it would need rare Pokemon, which it has not got.

The Hinds House was everything I was promised and more than I hoped for. It’s within walking distance of Pacific Ave and the weekly pop-up flea farmers market, the beach, the strip... basically everything on that side of Santa Cruz was close. Hinds was also very reasonably priced in my opinion! I stayed in the largest room upstairs. It had a claw foot tub and a small balcony. I want to go back!

I grew up in Santa Cruz and the Hinds House is my go to spot in between houses or travels. Private rooms with varying amenities and a communal downstairs with full kitchen. Centrally located and walking distance to everything including the beach and Pacific ocean.

Had my girlfriends parents stay here and they loved it! The house is beautiful and it has a great feel. The owner is great and the location is very good as well.

I visited Hinds House with friends who were staying there. The room was very nice, the house is an amazing place of antiques and feels like walking in a museum. There are also daily stocked cooking spices, coffee, and a full service kitchen. I was only visiting but I would consider staying there for sure the next time I visit Santa Cruz.
